The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening basic education and human capital development with the commissioning and handover of a fully renovated six-block classroom project at Methodist Primary School, Ibeshe, Ikorodu.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, represented by the Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, described the project as a strong example of how strategic partnerships can support government efforts to improve the education sector.
He noted that the Board remains intentional about collaborating with credible stakeholders to advance Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in education and social development.

Lamidi explained that LASUBEB’s mandate goes beyond providing infrastructure to ensuring sustainability, effective utilisation, and continuous monitoring of schools to enhance learning outcomes across public primary schools in Lagos State.
He commended the Nigeria Customs Service for the intervention and reiterated the Board’s commitment to fostering partnerships that promote quality basic education and socio-economic development.
In his remarks, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who led the Nigeria Customs Service delegation, outlined the scope of the project. He said the intervention included the renovation of six classroom blocks, refurbishment of pupils’ furniture, upgrading of toilet facilities, replacement of doors and windows, installation of ceiling fans, improvement of the water system, construction of a school cafeteria and an ultra-modern hall, installation of solar-powered security lights, strengthening of perimeter fencing, and provision of a refuse incinerator.
He added that the project was executed under the Nigeria Customs Service Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and aligns with LASUBEB’s objective of providing safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environments for pupils in public primary schools across the state.
