It was a memorable day of honour, recognition, and celebration at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, as the institution held its 19th Awards and Recognition Day on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The event, which took place at the University Auditorium, marked another milestone in the university’s tradition of rewarding excellence among staff, students, and notable Nigerians. The ceremony also formed part of activities leading up to the institution’s 17th Convocation Ceremony.

Delivering his keynote remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan, fffps, commended the awardees for their steadfast commitment, innovative spirit, and diligence. He emphasized that the university’s reputation rests heavily on the resilience and achievements of its people, urging both staff and students to maintain their zeal and dedication. “The Awards and Recognition Day reminds us that hard work, integrity, innovation and commitment never go unnoticed,” he declared, drawing resounding applause from the audience.

Prof. Akindele further expressed optimism about the future of Redeemer’s University, stressing that consistent pursuit of excellence would continue to distinguish the institution locally and globally. He called on the academic community to collectively push the boundaries of knowledge, service, and leadership so that the university could reach greater heights in research and societal impact.

The event was graced by dignitaries from academia, religious institutions, and the corporate world, underscoring the wide recognition Redeemer’s University has gained over the years. Pastor Agbolade Okenla, who chaired the occasion, praised the management for sustaining a culture of excellence through its reward system. According to him, institutions that celebrate their achievers inspire not just the recipients but the entire community to strive for greatness.

Highlighting the significance of the ceremony, Pastor Okenla noted that recognition is a powerful motivator that fosters unity and productivity in academic environments. He urged the university to continue reinforcing its values of character, competence, and creativity, which he described as essential ingredients for national development. His words, deeply inspiring, struck a chord with students in attendance, many of whom expressed renewed motivation to excel.

Among those specially honoured at the occasion were notable Nigerians, distinguished staff members, and brilliant students who had contributed significantly to the growth and visibility of the university. From academic excellence to leadership, innovation, and community service, the awards cut across diverse categories, ensuring that every facet of the university’s ecosystem was acknowledged.

In his closing remarks, the Vice-Chancellor extended gratitude to the university’s Governing Council, Senate, and staff for their support in creating an enabling environment for achievement. He reaffirmed the institution’s vision of becoming a world-class university that nurtures global leaders with strong moral values, a goal he said was already being reflected in the quality of its graduates and laureates.

The 19th Awards and Recognition Day also created a platform for students to interact with industry leaders and role models. Many attendees observed that the event served as a mentoring ground, inspiring young scholars to pursue innovation and personal development while remaining rooted in values of integrity and service. The blend of academic recognition with national impact underscored the university’s holistic approach to excellence.

As Redeemer’s University continues its 17th Convocation Ceremony celebrations, the Awards and Recognition Day stands as a reminder of the institution’s unwavering commitment to rewarding diligence and inspiring greatness. The day not only showcased achievements but also reinforced the university’s identity as a centre of learning, leadership, and innovation in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

With an atmosphere filled with joy, gratitude, and renewed hope, Redeemer’s University once again proved that excellence is not just a goal but a lifestyle. For many awardees and participants, September 25, 2025, will remain etched in memory as a day when hard work was celebrated, values were reaffirmed, and the torch of inspiration was passed on to a new generation of achievers.
