Nigeria has recorded another milestone on the global scientific stage with the appointment of Professor Rabia Sa’id of Bayero University, Kano, to an independent scientific panel established by the United Nations.
The appointment, announced by the UN Secretary-General, names Professor Sa’id a renowned physicist and advocate for science-based policyas one of the experts on the high-level panel tasked with assessing the potential impacts of nuclear war.
Her inclusion on the panel underscores both her personal academic distinction and Nigeria’s growing contribution to global scientific discourse, particularly in areas of peace, security, and sustainable development.
