Suleimon Taofikat Morenikeji, a 300-level student of Human Kinetics at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has concluded her participation at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games without securing qualification in her events.
Representing FUOYE and Nigeria on the global stage, Morenikeji competed in the 100m, 200m, and long jump events — three of the 18 sporting categories scheduled at the games. Despite her strong efforts and spirited performance in Berlin, she narrowly missed out on automatic qualification in all three events.
Her attempt marked a significant milestone for FUOYE, as she stood as one of the few Nigerian university athletes to participate in the world-renowned university competition. While qualification eluded her this time, her presence at the games is being celebrated by the university community as a reflection of growing talent and international ambition among Nigerian student-athletes.
