Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 20 additional undergraduate degree programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session, expanding its academic offerings from 50 to 70 programmes.
The approval, announced by the university’s Media and Public Relations Office on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, covers courses spanning agriculture, humanities, management, science, technology, environmental studies and social sciences.
The newly approved programmes include B.Sc. Animal Science, B.Sc. Agricultural Economics, B.A. Film Production, B.A. French, B.A. History and Diplomatic Studies, B.A. Linguistics, B.A. Religious Studies, B.A. Theatre Arts and B.A. Yoruba.
Others are B.Sc. Business Administration, B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management, B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence, B.Sc. Environmental Management, B.Sc. Geography, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Library and Information Science, and B.Sc. Social Work.
The university said the approval followed a request submitted to the NUC and would take effect from the 2026/2027 academic session. The development is expected to broaden the range of academic options available to prospective students seeking admission to the institution.
The inclusion of Artificial Intelligence, Film Production, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Agricultural Economics and Social Work reflects the university’s expanded coverage of disciplines that connect professional skills, technological development, creative industries, agriculture and community services.
For prospective candidates, however, the NUC approval does not by itself confirm that every programme is immediately available for application. Applicants should consult the university’s official admission announcements and the relevant admission guidelines to confirm programme-specific requirements, subject combinations and application arrangements for the 2026/2027 session.
Before the latest approval, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education operated 50 bachelor’s degree programmes across five faculties. The addition of the 20 programmes brings its total to 70, according to the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan, described the approval as an endorsement of the university’s commitment to academic excellence and compliance with national standards.
Olaniyan also acknowledged the support of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, saying the state government’s commitment had contributed significantly to the institution’s development.
The vice-chancellor further appreciated the NUC for responding to the university’s request.
The expansion represents a significant development in the institution’s academic growth, increasing its programme diversity and creating opportunities to strengthen teaching, research and professional training. Its impact will depend on the university’s ability to provide qualified lecturers, suitable facilities, learning resources and effective academic support across the newly approved disciplines.
