The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, has earned recognition in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The institution was ranked in several impact categories, including Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
During a recent courtesy visit to the university, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Akibu Sule, congratulated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, and the university management for the remarkable achievement. The commissioner’s visit also included an inspection of key state-sponsored projects at the institution.
Accompanied by Prof. Odusanya, the Deputy Vice Chancellors, Prof. Abiodun Denloye and Prof. Basirat Oladidupo-Folarin, and other management officers, Sule inspected ongoing construction projects, including the proposed Senate building, a students’ arcade, and a 750-seater hall.
Sule emphasized the government’s commitment to completing the projects promptly, stating, “The ranking is a significant achievement for the university, and I have informed Mr. Governor about this laudable milestone. Our visit is to assess progress and ensure these projects are completed by the first quarter of 2025.”
The commissioner also assured that the road network leading to the Senate building and the 750-seater hall would be improved to enhance accessibility.
In response, Prof. Odusanya expressed gratitude for the state government’s support and reaffirmed LASUSTECH’s commitment to delivering positive outcomes in all key areas. He thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for prioritizing the construction of vital infrastructure that would elevate the university’s standing further.
This achievement underscores LASUSTECH’s dedication to excellence and its growing reputation as a leading institution in addressing global challenges through impactful education and innovation.
