The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) successfully hosted a one-day workshop on the development of its strategic framework for 2025-2050. The event, held in collaboration with REC Consulting Limited, brought together key stakeholders, academics, and industry experts to chart a transformative path for the institution.
Under the theme, “Transforming FUOYE for the Future: Building a Sustainable, Innovative, and Secure Institution,” the workshop aimed to position FUOYE as a leading academic and research hub in Nigeria and beyond. The event was chaired by Prof. Dipo Aina, FAS, FSSSN, with Prof. Ibiyinka Ogunlade serving as the Team Coordinator.

The keynote address, delivered by Dr. Woleola Ekundayo, a renowned university administrator, focused on “The Role of Strategic Planning in Building the University of the Future.” Dr. Ekundayo emphasized the importance of forward-thinking strategies in addressing the evolving challenges of higher education and ensuring institutional sustainability.

Prof. Adesola Aderounmu, Director of the World Bank Designated ACE-OAK Park and National President of the Nigerian Computer Society, spoke on leveraging technology for academic excellence.

These areas included Academic Excellence, Research, and Innovation; Infrastructure Development; Technology, Digital, and Renewable Energy Transformation; Student Experience, Welfare, and Security; Strategic Governance and Visionary Leadership; Financial Sustainability and Institutional Growth; and Community and Global Engagement, Partnerships, and Institutional Growth.

The discussions from these groups will form the foundation of FUOYE’s strategic framework, ensuring the university remains competitive, innovative, and responsive to the needs of its students, staff, and the broader community. In his closing remarks, Prof. Joseph Ekiran expressed gratitude to all participants and reiterated FUOYE’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the workshop.
