A new Centre of Excellence for Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) has been commissioned in Garki Local Government, Jigawa State. The centre was commissioned by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, who was accompanied by the State Minister for Education, Suwaiba Said Amad, to the Citizens Engagement Initiative “Gwamnati da Jama’a.” According to Suwaiba Said Amad, “This center will equip Jigawa youth with vital skills in welding and fabrication, building construction, and catering services, empowering them for a brighter future.”
The Minister for Education highlighted the significance of the new center in her recent post on her official X handle. She stated that “I had the honour of accompanying His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi @uanamadi, to the Citizens Engagement Initiative ‘Gwamnati da Jama’a.'”
During the event, Suwaiba Said Amad also presented key achievements of the Federal Ministry of Education under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI). She mentioned that “Notable highlights included the expansion of TVET programs, upgrades to technical schools and unity colleges, the Energizing Education Programme (EEP), and the Girl Child Education Initiative under the Luminah Programme.” These initiatives are part of the Ministry’s efforts to transform education nationwide.
The Minister commended Governor Umar Namadi for his visionary leadership and dedication to improving the lives of Jigawa citizens. She stated that “I commend His Excellency Governor Umar Namadi for his visionary leadership and relentless dedication to improving the lives of Jigawa citizens. His proactive approach in education and youth empowerment sets a commendable standard.”
The commissioning of the new TVET centre is a significant step towards empowering Jigawa youth with vital skills. The centre is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the youth and contribute to the development of the state.
