The Ondo State government has commenced an extensive induction training programme for over 1,000 newly recruited secondary school teachers across the state, in a renewed effort to revitalise the education sector under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
The exercise, aimed at equipping the new teachers with essential professional skills and aligning them with global best practices, was officially launched in Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of Ondo North Senatorial District.
Declaring the programme open on behalf of the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip, the Director-General of the State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), Ilara-Mokin, Dr. Olumide Asere, described the induction as a critical step towards enhancing educational standards and improving teacher effectiveness in public schools across Ondo State.
With the theme, “Mastering the Teaching Terrain, Shaping Young Minds and Building a Bright Future,” the training will be conducted across the state’s three senatorial districts.
A statement by Mr. Sina Adeyeye, Press Officer in the Office of the Head of Service, noted that the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to institutionalising professionalism and raising the quality of instruction in public schools.
Dr. Asere encouraged the new teachers to seize the opportunity to enhance their pedagogical skills, adopt modern teaching techniques, and build sustainable careers in education.
He also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for approving the recruitment of the teachers, describing the move as a clear demonstration of the administration’s unwavering dedication to educational development.
The induction training, organised by the State Public Service Training Institute, will continue at designated centres in the Central and Southern senatorial districts in the coming days.
