The Secretary of Rano Local Government Area, Dr. Ismail Yusuf Musa, has called on young girls to continue their education beyond secondary school, describing their advancement as vital to societal progress.
Dr. Musa, who also founded the Samiha Education Charity Foundation, made the appeal on Sunday at a graduation lunch for 710 girls who successfully completed their secondary education in Rano town. He said the ceremony was designed to inspire the students and their families to place greater value on education as a driver of development.
“Our aim is to promote girl-child education in Kano State and to strengthen the culture of learning as the bedrock of every society,” he stated.
Musa added that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the policy direction of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, which prioritises access to quality education. He stressed that no society can progress without investing in its young people, particularly girls, whose role in shaping future generations is critical.
The Acting Chairman of Rano Local Government, Engr. Tukur Muhammad Wada, also commended the initiative, urging the graduands to remain committed to their studies. “I urge you to pay more attention to seeking education because it is the surest path to empowerment and societal progress,” he said.
The graduation lunch drew the attendance of traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians, educationists, and other stakeholders, who pledged support for girl-child education in the area.
