The Kwara State Government has announced Monday, September 15, 2025, as the official resumption date for all basic, junior, and secondary schools in the state for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, following a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the ministry to assess readiness for the new session.
Olohungbebe said the government has taken adequate measures to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment in schools across the state. He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s continued investment in the education sector, which he said has translated into improved learning outcomes and better welfare for teachers.
“A review of the previous academic year has been undertaken, and areas requiring more attention have been identified. As a government, we reassure all stakeholders, including our partners, of our commitment to uninterrupted education for all learners in Kwara State,” the commissioner stated.
He added that recent examination results showed notable improvement in students’ performance, which he described as a motivation for the administration to intensify efforts toward strengthening the system.

The commissioner also disclosed that the government is finalising a robust policy framework for education, with details to be unveiled after ongoing consultations with stakeholders are concluded.
He urged parents, school administrators, learners, and other education stakeholders to support government initiatives, stressing that various programmes including technological solutions are being introduced to make learning more inclusive and accessible to all children in the state.
