The Katsina State Government has commenced the third phase of its Step-Down Training Programme aimed at equipping 18,000 teachers with modern teaching skills and ICT literacy.
The training, organised in partnership with the Transforming Education at the State Level (TESS) Project, is currently holding at Hassan Usman Model Science Primary School, Modoji, and other centres across Katsina metropolis.
During an inspection visit on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to building teachers’ capacity and transforming classroom delivery in line with global digital trends.
“This five-day training is a deliberate effort to upgrade the capacity of our teachers. Each participant has been provided with a tablet to enhance their work and enrich the teaching experience. After the programme, we expect you to cascade this knowledge to your schools so that both teachers and students benefit from the transformation,” she told participants.
Musawa reaffirmed Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to prioritising education reforms, noting that the government sees teachers as the backbone of quality learning. She commended the dedication of participants and urged them to maximize the opportunity for professional growth.
The programme is expected to significantly improve teaching and learning outcomes across Katsina State, particularly in bridging digital literacy gaps among educators.
