Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has organised a comprehensive orientation programme for its newly recruited staff members who joined the institution between January 2024 and September 2025. The programme was designed to acquaint the fresh staff with the university’s vision, mission, values of excellence and integrity, work ethics, and available support services.
The orientation was held over two days, with non-academic staff sessions conducted on Wednesday, September 17, while academic staff sessions followed on Thursday, September 18. Both events underscored the institution’s commitment to ensuring that every staff member fully understands and aligns with its founding principles.
Speaking at the opening of the orientation for non-academic staff, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan, fffps, described the group as the backbone of the university’s operations. He emphasized that the university’s academic mission cannot be achieved without their consistent support and dedication to duty.
“Our academic mission cannot be achieved without you. You are not just employees but custodians of the values of the university. I encourage you to approach your service with diligence and excellence,” Professor Akindele declared, charging participants to remain committed to their roles in building the institution’s legacy.
The programme featured insightful sessions led by principal officers of the university. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Aderonmu, spoke at length on the institution’s vision, mission, and core values. He reiterated the importance of aligning personal goals with the university’s objectives in order to sustain its global reputation for academic and moral excellence.
The Registrar, Mr. David Akintola, took participants through the history of Redeemer’s University, highlighting its journey from the vision of the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in 1982, to its present status as one of Nigeria’s leading private universities. He also explained the organisational structure of the institution, stressing how every role, whether academic or non-academic, contributes to the success of the university.
Other key officers also delivered sessions to further familiarise the new staff with institutional services. The Bursar, Mr. Samuel Momodu, presented on financial procedures, transparency, and accountability, while the Acting Librarian, Dr. Pauline Adeniran, highlighted the importance of library resources in supporting teaching, learning, and research.
In addition, ICT and security matters were addressed by the Acting Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. (Mrs) Bosede Oguntunde, who was represented by Mrs. Boladale Oguntunde, Chief Systems Analyst. Their session focused on the need for staff to embrace digital tools for efficiency and to prioritise cyber security in their operations.
The Human Resources session, facilitated by Deputy Registrar, Mr. Ogunlade, dealt with staff welfare, discipline, and professional development. He encouraged staff members to take advantage of training opportunities and to always maintain a positive attitude in service delivery.
One of the recurring themes across all sessions was the emphasis on the university’s student-first philosophy. Staff were reminded that students remain the number one priority of Redeemer’s University, and therefore must be treated with respect, patience, and fairness in all engagements. This principle, they were told, is at the heart of the institution’s success.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn directly from senior officers of the university. Many described the programme as enlightening and motivating, noting that it gave them a clearer understanding of their roles within the larger university system.
The orientation programme ended on a note of renewed commitment as both academic and non-academic staff pledged to uphold the values of the university. The leadership of Redeemer’s University reaffirmed its readiness to continue supporting staff to excel in their respective duties while collectively driving the institution toward global excellence.
