Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), has recorded another remarkable feat as one of its staff members, Dr. Omojola Awogbemi, has been ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists in the subfield of Energy for the year 2025.
Dr. Awogbemi, a Mechanical Engineer and Senior Chief Technologist in the university, earned the recognition following the latest global ranking prepared by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier. The ranking, which serves as a benchmark for scientific impact and research excellence, was published in the Elsevier Data Repository.
According to the report, the dataset was released under the title: John P.A. (2025), “August 2025 data-update for ‘Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators,’” Elsevier Data Repository, V8, doi: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.8. The inclusion of Dr. Awogbemi in the list reflects his immense scholarly contributions in advancing energy research and technology.
This recognition did not only highlight Dr. Awogbemi’s personal achievements as a certified Mechanical Engineer but also brought global attention to Ekiti State University. By being listed in the prestigious category, EKSU has once again been positioned on the global academic map as a citadel of knowledge and innovation.
Dr. Awogbemi is well respected within the institution and beyond, having served at one time as the Branch Chairman of the Ekiti State University Chapter of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). His dedication to research, professional development, and mentorship has inspired many of his colleagues and students.
The Vice-Chancellor of EKSU, Professor Babatola Ayodele, described the recognition as a proud moment for the university. While reacting to the news, he congratulated Dr. Awogbemi for his exceptional achievement and praised the Department of Mechanical Engineering for nurturing such talent.

The Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs of EKSU confirmed the recognition in a statement signed by its Deputy Registrar and Head, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun, dated 24th September, 2025.
