The 1980–1985 Set of Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, has officially announced its grand 40th Homecoming Anniversary Celebration scheduled to hold from Tuesday, October 14 to Sunday, October 19, 2025. The event, tagged “Celebrating Legacy, Inspiring the Future,” promises to be one of the most memorable reunions in the institution’s history, combining nostalgia, community service, and forward-looking initiatives.
In a detailed programme jointly signed by the Set Chairman, Prince Adejumoke Agunbiade, and the Secretary, Comrade Gbenga Olowoyo, the week-long celebration is designed not only to reconnect old classmates but also to reaffirm the Set’s enduring commitment to giving back to their alma mater. The statement highlighted that the annual event serves as a tribute to Christ’s School — the institution that laid the solid foundation for their professional and personal successes.
Activities will commence on Tuesday, October 14, with the arrival of members and an executive tour of the school premises, followed by an Executive Council Meeting later in the evening. The tour, according to the organisers, will offer members a firsthand view of the developments and ongoing projects within the school, while also inspiring new ideas for institutional support.
On Wednesday, October 15, the day will begin with registration of members and a press conference to brief the media on the objectives of the celebration. This will be followed by a courtesy visit to the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, where the alumni will pay homage to the traditional ruler. The evening will feature a social bonding event, providing members with an opportunity to reconnect, share memories, and foster renewed friendship.
The celebration’s third day, Thursday, October 16, promises to be action-packed with a road show from Christ’s School to Okesa Area of Ado Ekiti, aimed at showcasing the unity and pride of the alumni. Later in the day, Professor Taiwo Owoeye, a distinguished economist and member of the Set, will deliver a career talk targeted at current students of Christ’s School, focusing on academic excellence and career readiness in a changing world.
On Friday, October 17, the Set will host another round of career talks and a medical outreach, extending humanitarian services to both students and the host community. At 2:00 p.m., the Global Conference of Alumni Set Executives will hold, bringing together representatives from various Sets to discuss institutional growth and alumni engagement. This will be followed by the Distinguished Alumni Lecture to be delivered by Professor Deji Fasuyi at the Lecture Theatre by 3:00 p.m., and a novelty football match will cap off the day’s events.
The climax of the celebration will unfold on Saturday, October 18, beginning with a Delegates Conference and the commissioning of a legacy project donated by the 80–85 Set at 12 noon. The project, according to the organisers, symbolizes the Set’s enduring investment in the educational and infrastructural development of Christ’s School. This will be followed by the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the much-anticipated Gala Night and Award Ceremony at the Adetiloye Multipurpose Hall, Fountain Hotel, Basiri, starting at 7:00 p.m.
The Gala Night will feature award presentations to distinguished alumni who have excelled in various fields of endeavor, as well as to teachers and community members who have contributed to the development of Christ’s School. The evening is expected to blend elegance and emotion, as attendees celebrate decades of friendship, academic excellence, and shared heritage.
The grand finale of the celebration will take place on Sunday, October 19, with a Thanksgiving Service at The Lord’s Chapel, Christ’s School, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The service will offer a moment of reflection and gratitude to God for the journey so far. The event will conclude with the Change of Baton Ceremony, marking the formal handover of leadership to the next executive team.
In a separate statement jointly signed by the Central Planning Committee (CPC) Chairman, Dr. Jadesola Taiwo Babatola, and Secretary, Barrister Ronke Adeyemi (SAN), the committee assured that all logistical, security, and hospitality arrangements have been finalized for a seamless and memorable event.
Dr. Babatola noted that the 2025 Homecoming would surpass previous editions, emphasizing that it represents a convergence of purpose, reconnecting with old friends, contributing to institutional development, and inspiring younger generations to uphold the values of diligence, discipline, and excellence.
Barrister Adeyemi added that the event also aims to strengthen the bridge between past and present students, ensuring that Christ’s School continues to serve as a beacon of education, leadership, and moral integrity in Nigeria. She reiterated the committee’s readiness to deliver a successful homecoming that will be remembered for its organization, inclusivity, and enduring impact.
As the countdown begins, the Christ’s School 80–85 Set stands poised to celebrate not just 40 years of graduation, but four decades of lifelong friendship, service, and the unbroken spirit of “Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti The School of Our Pride.”
