Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to address the ongoing electricity supply challenges at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), as part of his administration’s wider commitment to enhancing student welfare and infrastructure across tertiary institutions in the state.
Speaking during a meeting with student leaders in Akure, the governor also announced the approval of five new buses for student bodies to ease transportation difficulties on campuses.
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to education, youth empowerment, and technical skills development, emphasizing that technical education remains a vital driver for job creation and industrial growth.
Aiyedatiwa commended the students for their peaceful conduct and maturity, especially amid ongoing national economic reforms. He urged them to remain patient and assured them of his government’s continued responsiveness to their needs.
The governor cited ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Akungba-Ikare road reconstruction, as evidence of his administration’s commitment to improving access and safety in student-populated communities.
He also called on the private sector to invest in student accommodation, encouraging developers to build hostels near campuses to help alleviate the persistent housing shortage.
Reiterating his administration’s support for scholarships, grants, and other financial interventions, Aiyedatiwa emphasized efforts to reduce the financial burden on students and promote academic excellence.
