Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has officially announced an extension of the deadline for its Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening registration. The new closing date is October 31, 2025, replacing the earlier date initially set by the institution. This update comes as a relief to thousands of applicants who were unable to complete their registration before the original deadline.

The university management disclosed that the extension was approved after careful consideration of several requests from candidates and parents who cited difficulties in accessing the registration portal. According to the EKSU Admissions Office, the decision was made to “ensure that no eligible candidate is left out of the ongoing 2025/2026 admission exercise.” The university emphasized that the extension is a strategic step to promote fairness and accessibility in the admission process.

In a detailed statement released through the Directorate of Information, the university urged applicants who have not yet registered to seize this opportunity and complete their applications promptly. Candidates are reminded that all registration activities must be done strictly through the official EKSU admission portal at https://eksuportal.eksu.edu.ng to avoid falling victim to fraudulent agents or fake websites.

The 2025/2026 admission exercise at EKSU is open to both Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) applicants. The university clarified that no written examination will be conducted; instead, candidates will undergo an online screening process based on their UTME scores and O’Level results. This streamlined method, according to the management, ensures transparency and efficiency in the selection of qualified students.

The screening officially commenced on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and remains open until the newly extended deadline. To be eligible, applicants must have scored 150 and above in the 2025 UTME and must be willing to make EKSU their first choice of institution on the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Those who initially chose other universities are advised to apply for a change of institution to EKSU via JAMB CAPS before proceeding.

While the general cutoff is 150, EKSU outlined specific departmental score benchmarks for highly competitive courses. These include:

  • Medicine & Surgery: 260
  • Law: 250
  • Doctor of Pharmacy: 240
  • Nursing Science: 230
  • Medical Laboratory Science: 220
  • Mass Communication: 200
  • Engineering: 180
  • Computer Science: 180
  • Medical Biochemistry: 180

Candidates who do not meet these thresholds may still apply for other programmes within the university.

For Direct Entry applicants, EKSU accepts JUPEB results with at least 7 points, while explicitly stating that IJMB results will not be considered. Candidates applying through polytechnic or college routes must present the following qualifications:

  • Engineering applicants: Upper Credit in relevant ND programmes.
  • Other programmes: Minimum of Lower Credit.
  • NCE holders: Credit or Merit in relevant teaching subjects for Education courses.

The step-by-step application process remains user-friendly and entirely online. Applicants are to begin by visiting the EKSU portal and selecting “Admission.” Next, they should create an account using an active email address and personal phone number. After receiving a verification email, candidates can log in with either their JAMB registration number or registered email address and the password they created. From there, they must select the 2025/2026 PUTME application option and input their JAMB details.

If the applicant already made EKSU their first choice, their basic information will automatically appear; otherwise, it must be filled in manually. Applicants are then required to pay the screening fee online by clicking the “PAY NOW” button. Once payment is confirmed, the screening form becomes accessible for completion. Candidates should upload a 1”x1” coloured passport photograph with a red background (JPEG format) and include details of their O’Level results from no more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Before final submission, applicants must preview all provided details carefully, confirm accuracy, and print a copy of the completed screening form for reference. EKSU emphasized that any form with incomplete or incorrect details may lead to disqualification. For transparency, Direct Entry candidates are also instructed to forward their official academic transcripts to the university through admissions.registration@eksu.edu.ng on or before October 31, 2025.

To further improve communication and transparency, the institution has established a dedicated WhatsApp platform designed specifically for parents, guardians, and sponsors. This channel allows them to receive verified updates about admission timelines, payment procedures, and other important notifications directly from the university’s admission office. EKSU believes this move will bridge the communication gap between the university and stakeholders, especially for those unfamiliar with online processes.

With this extension, EKSU reaffirms its commitment to providing equal opportunity to all qualified candidates across Nigeria. The management urged applicants to avoid last-minute rushes and take advantage of the extended period to complete their applications correctly. As the October 31, 2025 deadline draws nearer, the university reiterated that there will be no further extension after this date, as the admission process will move into its next phase of verification and selection.

In conclusion, the university’s proactive decision demonstrates its readiness to accommodate genuine applicants and its determination to uphold transparency, accessibility, and inclusivity in Nigeria’s higher education system.
