He added:
“Many strong boxers came here in good spirits, but in the end, God made me the winner in my category.”
Head Coach of the UNIJOS boxing team, Mr. Bola Odumuyiwa, praised the athletes for their dedication, noting that the school’s investment in sports is yielding results.
He thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Ishaya Tanko for supporting boxing at the university, but called for more facilities, especially a standard boxing ring on campus.
“UNIJOS did not feature female boxers this year. Hopefully, in 2026, they will. Having our own boxing ring will ease the transportation challenges and attract more students, especially ladies to the sport,” he said.
Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Musa Ashoms, joined several coaches, officials, and invited guests at the finals. Organisers described the tournament as successful and praised the athletes for their discipline and sportsmanship.
The boxing finals add momentum to the wider NUGA 2025 Games, with other sporting events continuing across the University of Jos in the days ahead.
