The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, led the University Management on a courtesy visit to the institution’s Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jonathan O. Ndagi, at his residence on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
The visit served to convey the goodwill of the University community, appreciate the solid legacy established by the pioneer leader, and update him on significant institutional progress.
Commitment to Legacy and Expansion
In his remarks, Prof. Kuta deeply appreciated Prof. Ndagi for his foundational work, which successive administrations continue to build upon.
Prof. Kuta specifically noted the University’s continued commitment to environmental cleanliness and beauty, an ideal highly valued by the pioneer VC. He assured him that FUT Minna remains dedicated to maintaining its green landscape, trees, and flowers to ensure a serene, learner-friendly environment.
Prof. Kuta informed Prof. Ndagi that the University has expanded its academic structure significantly, including the establishment of additional schools and programmes, notably the new College of Medical Sciences.
A major institutional update provided by the Vice-Chancellor was the University’s current effort to achieve global recognition. Prof. Kuta informed the pioneer VC that FUT Minna is undergoing the process of international accreditation by the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), a development expected to place the University on par with leading higher institutions in the United Kingdom.
The visit was also used to congratulate Prof. Ndagi on his recently celebrated 95th birthday. On behalf of the University Council, Senate, Staff, and Students, Prof. Kuta presented him with a customized birthday card.
Prof. Ndagi expressed his appreciation for the visit and voiced his delight that the University continues to uphold the tradition of keeping the campus green. Recalling the institution’s early days, he noted that FUT Minna was known from inception for excellence in science and technology, highlighting that the Federal Government once sent officials to FUT Minna for training in computer operations.
The visit concluded with prayers offered for Prof. Ndagi’s continued blessings, good health, and long life.
