The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Prof. Adamu Ahmed, has lauded the Centre for Islamic Legal Studies (CILS) for its consistency in fostering intellectual dialogue on critical issues affecting Islam and the Nigerian state.
Speaking at the 3rd National Annual Symposium on the Life and Teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), held in Zaria on December 28, 2025, Prof. Ahmed praised the Centre for maintaining its tradition of academic excellence. The symposium was themed: ‘Sharia Perspective on Peace and Security: Lessons from the Life and Teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’.
Timely Intervention in National Security Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Bello Sabo, the Vice-Chancellor described the symposium’s focus as “insightful and topical,” noting that the life of the Holy Prophet offers vital blueprints for addressing Nigeria’s current security challenges.
He recalled that only two months ago, CILS hosted a high-level conference for judges and Khadis, tackling modern complexities such as cryptocurrency and Islamic business transactions. “It must be acknowledged that the Centre is again leading the way by reflecting on peace and security through a prophetic lens,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Royal Support for Education Prof. Ahmed expressed deep appreciation for the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, for his unwavering commitment to education and university-led enlightenment programs. The Emir, who attended the symposium personally, was noted for his consistent support of ABU’s intellectual endeavors, including the recent ABU Alumni Association Annual Lecture.
