The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Examinations Board, has announced the start of the 2026 electronic registration and payment process for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The exercise is scheduled to run from Monday, January 26 to Friday, March 27, 2026, as part of the state’s drive to simplify examination procedures through technology and eliminate the need for the physical presence of school proprietors at the Board.
Speaking on the development, the Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr Adebayo Orunsolu, said all schools are required to use the newly issued School Code for the registration process.
He explained that public junior secondary schools are to download the Offline Data Capturing Application from the Board’s website at bece.examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng, while approved private junior secondary schools, schools operating with special permission, and continuing education centres are to complete payment and registration via pay.examsboard.com.ng, where login credentials will be generated.
Orunsolu disclosed that approved private junior secondary schools and approved public continuing education centres will pay a registration fee of ₦10,000 per candidate, while junior secondary schools with special permission and private continuing education centres will pay ₦15,000 per candidate.
He also urged schools presenting candidates with special needs, including visual impairments or albinism, to formally notify the Board in advance to allow for adequate preparations before the examination begins.
The registrar advised participating schools to strictly adhere to the approved guidelines for payment and registration, warning that late registration may attract penalties. He added that further details, where necessary, would be communicated to schools through their respective zonal officers.
