The United States Mission in Nigeria has introduced a new set of free online English-language courses to help Nigerians improve their professional communication skills and enhance career prospects.
The initiative, announced via the mission’s official X platform, is designed to support learners seeking to strengthen their English proficiency in key professional areas while studying flexibly and connecting with a global learning community.
The courses are offered through the U.S. Department of State’s Online Professional English Network (OPEN), an international programme focused on equipping participants with practical language skills for modern workplaces.
Registration for the programme opened on January 5, 2026, and will run until March 23, 2026, while the courses themselves are scheduled to hold between January 5 and March 30, 2026.
Participants can choose from a range of specialised courses, including English for Business and Entrepreneurship, English for Tourism Professionals, and English for Career Development, which focuses on resume writing, job applications and interview skills.
The US Mission encouraged interested learners to take advantage of the opportunity by enrolling through its online learning platform, describing the programme as a pathway to improved professional competence and global competitiveness.
