The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has announced that its student loan application portal will close on February 27, 2026, urging eligible students to complete their applications before the deadline.
The notice was posted on the official X page of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, popularly known as NELFUND on Wednesday.
According to the agency, students seeking financial support under the scheme are advised to submit their applications promptly to avoid being locked out once the portal closes.
NELFUND also issued a directive to institutions that have not yet commenced the 2025 academic session. Such institutions are required to submit an official request for an extension, accompanied by their approved academic calendar, for consideration.
The agency did not specify whether late applications would be entertained after the closure date, reinforcing the urgency for students and affected institutions to act within the stipulated timeframe.
The student loan scheme is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to expand access to higher education by providing interest-free loans to eligible students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Students and institutions have been encouraged to monitor updates through NELFUND’s official communication channels for further guidance regarding the application process and extension requests.
