The Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, has officially inaugurated a new set of Students’ Union executives who will oversee the affairs of the student body for the 2025/2026 academic session, marking the beginning of a new phase of student leadership at the institution.
Leading the newly inaugurated executive council is Kehinde O. Bamgbose, who assumes office as Executive President of the Students’ Union. The leadership team is expected to represent student interests, coordinate campus activities, and engage with the university administration on issues affecting the welfare and academic life of students.
Supporting the president are four vice presidents: Kehinde Peter Oluwafemi as Vice President I, Ogunbiyi Ibrahim Olumilekan as Vice President II, Akinbo-Abdulrahman Aderemi as Vice President III, and Fashakin Boluwatife Akinwunmi as Vice President IV, forming part of the core leadership structure responsible for policy coordination and student representation.
The administrative responsibilities of the union will be handled by Olajire Emmanuel as General Secretary, alongside Kolade Precious as Assistant General Secretary I, Oladitiatan Ahmad Opeyemi as Assistant General Secretary II, Adebayo Israel Adesola as Assistant General Secretary III, and Hodewu Samuel as Assistant General Secretary IV.

Other key officers include Salau Michael Olamide as Public Relations Officer, Lawanson Omolola Folasade as Financial Secretary, and Adeyinka Joseph Ayo as Welfare Director, while student activities and engagements will be coordinated by Idowu Blessing Oluwafemi as Social Director and Oladipo Olamide Fapamulel as Sports Director.
The executive council also includes Adeyemi Abdulkabir Kehinde as Medical Director, responsible for student health-related initiatives, and Ayoade Jesumbo John as Legal Director, who will oversee legal and constitutional matters relating to the Students’ Union.
University observers note that the inauguration of the new leadership comes at a time when students of Olabisi Onabanjo University are increasingly demanding stronger advocacy on issues such as welfare support, academic resources, and improved campus services.
In separate telephone interviews conducted by The Nigeria Education News with several students of the university, many expressed optimism that the new administration would introduce reforms that would positively impact student life.
A 300-level student from the Faculty of Social Sciences told The Nigeria Education News that students are particularly hopeful the new union leadership will focus on welfare, transparency, and effective communication between the Students’ Union and the broader student population.
Another respondent noted that the leadership should prioritise practical concerns affecting daily campus life, including transportation, hostel conditions, and improved student engagement with university authorities.
Some students also emphasised the importance of inclusive representation, urging the new executives to ensure that students across all faculties and levels within Olabisi Onabanjo University feel adequately represented in union decisions.
For many within the university community, the newly inaugurated executive council now faces the responsibility of translating its campaign promises into concrete policies and programmes capable of addressing the expectations of students during the 2025/2026 academic session.
