The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has released an adjusted academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school session, announcing a list of public holidays to be observed by schools across the state.
In a notice made available to schools and education stakeholders, the ministry explained that the newly issued calendar supersedes the earlier version previously circulated, and should now serve as the official guide for academic activities within the session.
According to the ministry, the adjustment was made to ensure that schools align properly with nationally recognised public holidays while maintaining a coordinated academic schedule for primary and secondary institutions in the state.
The ministry also emphasised that schools must strictly observe the listed holidays as part of the academic calendar.

The ministry further directed school administrators, teachers, and education officials across the state to take note of the changes and ensure that academic programmes and school activities are planned in accordance with the revised calendar.
It also stated that any additional public holidays declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria during the academic year must be observed by all schools accordingly.
Education authorities in the state expressed optimism that the adjusted calendar would help schools maintain a more structured academic schedule while ensuring compliance with national public holiday observances throughout the 2025/2026 session.
