The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series, to August 28.
The council announced the extension on Saturday, urging prospective candidates who are yet to register to take advantage of the additional time.
Registration, which began on May 4, was initially scheduled to close on July 31.
The examination, commonly known as WAEC GCE, is designed for candidates outside the regular secondary school system, including those seeking to obtain or improve their O’Level results.
WAEC said the 2026 Second Series examination would be conducted entirely as a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) and is scheduled for September and October.
The registration fee remains N37,000.
The council advised candidates to confirm the availability of examination towns at the nearest WAEC office in their respective states before completing their registration.
The latest extension gives prospective candidates additional time to complete the registration process ahead of the September–October examination window.
