The College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin Campus, has dismissed reports that its lecturers have returned to Ogbomoso, saying lectures and other academic activities are ongoing in Iseyin.
In a clarification dated October 21, 2026, the college urged students to disregard the circulating reports, stating that teaching had resumed following an extended academic break.
The Provost, Professor M. O. Raufu, reaffirmed the college’s commitment to the continued development of the Iseyin campus and reassured students about its academic operations.
The clarification comes amid renewed discussions about the campus’s future following Governor Seyi Makinde’s announcement that his administration would initiate the process of making it an autonomous university.
According to the governor’s announced plans, the state would engage the National Universities Commission and conduct a sustainability study to guide the proposed transition.
The autonomy proposal, however, does not amount to an immediate change in the campus’s status. Details of the regulatory process, funding, staffing and arrangements for existing students would need to be established as the proposal progresses.
The relocation of LAUTECH’s agricultural programmes from Ogbomoso to Iseyin has previously generated disagreements among sections of the university community. The latest clarification addresses renewed concerns about lecturers’ presence and the location of teaching activities.
For students, consistent lectures, practical training and supervision remain essential to completing their programmes without disruption.
The college maintained that academic activities remain in Iseyin and encouraged students to disregard claims suggesting otherwise.
