The Osun State Government has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke has sacked the Provost of Ilesa College of Health Technology, confirming that Dr Lateef Olanrewaju Raheem remains the substantive head of the institution.
The government made the clarification in a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, amid developments surrounding the management of the college and questions about the status of the provost’s appointment.
According to the state government, no decision has been taken to remove Raheem from office, and he continues to serve as the substantive provost pending a decision on the renewal of his appointment.
The statement also disclosed that the recent crisis within the institution had been resolved following a review of issues relating to its management by the state leadership.
The government said the review examined the institution’s management structure, including representation of the host community, adding that Adeleke was satisfied with the progress recorded by the college within the resources available to it.
It further explained that an advertisement placed by the institution’s board was a routine administrative exercise and should not be interpreted as confirmation that the incumbent provost had been removed from office.
The clarification comes amid concerns surrounding the institution’s leadership and the administrative processes associated with the provost’s position. The government maintained that the governor remains the principal appointing authority and would make a decision on the renewal of Raheem’s appointment in due course.
The statement did not announce a specific date for the decision on the renewal of the appointment. It, however, reiterated that Raheem remains the substantive provost until the state government makes a formal decision on the matter.
The government urged members of the public to disregard rumours suggesting that the provost had been sacked, insisting that the reports did not reflect the official position of the state administration.
The statement was signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the Osun State Governor.
The development places renewed attention on the administration of Ilesa College of Health Technology, an institution involved in the training of health personnel. Stability in its leadership and management is important to the coordination of academic activities, institutional administration and the delivery of healthcare-related training.
While the government says the immediate management crisis has been resolved, the question of whether Raheem’s appointment will be renewed remains subject to the governor’s decision.
For now, the Osun State Government’s position is that Dr Lateef Olanrewaju Raheem has not been sacked and remains the substantive provost of Ilesa College of Health Technology.
