The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology announced that it generated N1.5 billion in revenue between January and October 2024. The disclosure was made by the Education Commissioner, Abayomi Arigbabu, during the defense of the ministry’s 2025 budget proposal before the Ogun State House of Assembly’s Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Musefiu Lamidi (APC-Ado Odo Ota II).
According to Mr. Arigbabu, the ministry has proposed a total budget of N59.4 billion for 2025, comprising N24.7 billion for recurrent expenditure and N34.7 billion for capital projects. He also revealed the ministry’s revenue target of N2.5 billion for 2025, which will be generated from sources such as private school licenses, inspection fees, school tuition and examination fees, and renewal fees. Additional revenue sources include sales of application forms, bills of entries, and earnings from the use of government halls.
Highlighting the ministry’s plans for the coming year, Mr. Arigbabu stated that the government would prioritize the purchase of educational and vocational equipment and undertake more school construction projects to address the shortage of educational facilities across the state.
