In its bid to promote academic excellence, creativity, and physical development among students,Oyo State Government through Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, on Friday honoured over One Hundred students, teachers, Athletes for emerging victorious at both National and State Academic and sports Competitions.
Speaking at the award ceremony, held at the Local Government Training College, Secretariat, Ibadan, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, commended the awardees for making the State proud.
The Commissioner explained that the time, energy, and resources invested in participating in such academic competition is highly significant.
He reiterated that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration would continue to reward excellence in academic activities and implement policies capable of improving the quality of Education in Oyo State.
He maintained that the recognition accorded the award winners was in line with the governor Makinde ‘s efforts to improve Educational infrastructure in the state.
According to him, Today’s event was to celebrate excellence, we inspire our future leaders to pursue their dreams and ambitions of becoming doctors, lawyers, Engineers and more.”
In her remarks, Director, Mathematics and Technical,
Mrs.Jimmo Muinat, encouraged the award recipients to see the recognition as rewards for excellence which she said reflects the efforts of the teachers in the state.
She admonished students to always avoid examination malpractices and be self-reliant in their academic sojourn.
Speaking on behalf of the Teachers and Students, Mr. Ige Olaolu and master Olatunji Daniel, respectively, thanked the Ministry for the initiative , describing it as a morale booster.
The duo added that the honour and award will encourage them to strive for more laurels in their pursuit of academic excellence.
The recipients of the awards include the winners of the state and national MAN Mathematics Olympiad competition, Stan competition, Panegyric competition and the Education football team that won the Inter- Sectoral Football Competition held last year.
