Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has been crowned Africa’s best in Real Estate Research, according to the 2025 report by EduRank, a prestigious international organization that ranks universities globally based on specific research topics.
This outstanding recognition places OAU at the pinnacle of real estate education in Africa, with a ranking of 1st in Nigeria, 1st in Africa, and an impressive 67th globally. This feat is a testament to the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and innovative research.
In response to this achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, expressed his pride and admiration for the university’s faculty and students. “This ranking is a well-deserved honor for our university, and it demonstrates our dedication to fostering a culture of excellence in research,” he stated.
Professor Bamire congratulated the Department of Estate Management, assuring the entire university of continued support to achieve excellence in research and delivery of university education capable of providing innovative solutions to global challenges.
The institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olubola Babalola, echoed the Vice-Chancellor’s sentiments, noting that the achievement was a testament to OAU’s leadership position in Africa, particularly in real estate studies. “Our Faculty of Environmental Design and Management is renowned for its world-class teaching and research infrastructure, as well as its globally acclaimed scholars,” she emphasized.
Professor Olusegun Ogunba, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, attributed the ranking to the cumulative excellence of the staff and students, as well as the support of the department’s alumni. “Our real estate program boasts the largest research output in both quality and quantity, and we have garnered the largest number of best paper prizes,” he proudly stated.
OAU’s Real Estate Department is distinguished by its impressive faculty, comprising nine professors and two professors emeriti, the largest number in any real estate department in Africa. This exceptional academic team has contributed significantly to the university’s research output and reputation.
EduRank’s current publication ratings were sourced from an impressive 60,500 academic publications by researchers from 632 universities worldwide. This comprehensive assessment underscores the credibility and reliability of OAU’s ranking.
