The 29th Convocation Ceremony of Ekiti State University (EKSU) was marked by solemn reflection and resounding hope as Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji addressed the academic congregation. The governor began his speech by requesting a moment of silence to honor the passing of the wife of the university’s Chancellor, acknowledging the profound loss suffered by the institution’s leadership.
Dignitaries from across Nigeria graced the ceremony, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Deputy Senate President, esteemed senators, members of the university’s governing council, Pro-Chancellor and Council Chairman Professor Akin Oyebode, Vice-Chancellor Professor Joseph Babatola, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, prominent traditional rulers, and other distinguished vice-chancellors.
In his address, Governor Oyebanji extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students, applauding their perseverance, resilience, and hard work. His dedication to educational advancement is commendable, and we celebrate his ongoing projects, including the Medical Hostel initiative on this campus,” the governor said.
Governor Oyebanji also showered accolades on the university’s governing council, led by Professor Akin Oyebode, for their steadfast commitment to improving the institution. “The tireless efforts of this council in elevating the university’s standards have not gone unnoticed. Your hard work is shaping the future of this institution, and for that, we are deeply grateful,” he stated.
