The Redeemer’s University Governing Council has officially appointed Mr. Samuel Momodu, FCA, as the institution’s substantive Bursar. The confirmation came during the council’s 76th statutory meeting chaired by Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS. Mr. Momodu, a seasoned financial expert and foundation staff member, had served previously as Deputy Bursar and also acted in the position before his elevation.
An alumnus of the University of Benin, Mr. Momodu graduated in 2000 with a degree in Accounting. He achieved the prestigious status of Fellow with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in 2016. “He has mentored and trained the upcoming professionals as a consummate professional in his field,” the university noted in its official statement.

In furthering his academic pursuits, Mr. Momodu earned a Master of Business Administration from Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, in 2022. In addition, he has maintained active membership with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria since 2000. With over 25 years of experience in financial and tax administration, he brings deep insight and leadership to the institution’s fiscal management.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, congratulated the new appointee and encouraged him to raise the bar of excellence. “I felicitate with you and urge you to give your professional best towards the upliftment of the university,” he remarked during a formal reception for the new Bursar.
In his response, Mr. Momodu expressed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to serve. “I thank God and everyone who stood by me in prayer, especially the Governing Council Chair, Vice-Chancellor, and other notable personalities who God had used to make my dream come to fruition,” he said.
Mr. Momodu is well respected within the university community and beyond, not just for his professional competence but also for his values. A devoted minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, he is known for his integrity, discipline, and compassion. He lives with his family and continues to serve both the academic and spiritual arms of the institution.
His appointment is seen as a recognition of dedication and long-standing service, making him the most senior figure in the university’s Bursary Department. The university community has welcomed the decision, expressing optimism that the new leadership will further strengthen transparency and financial efficiency within the system.
