Rite Foods Limited has donated school materials to more than 2,000 pupils in public schools across Lagos and Ogun states as part of its commitment to improving education in underserved communities.
The gesture, which marked this year’s World Children’s Day, aims to support pupils from low-income families with essential learning tools while promoting environmental responsibility. The school bags distributed were made from recycled nylon waste generated by the company.
Speaking at the Lagos distribution event held at Ayeroju Nursery and Primary School in Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government Area, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, Mr Ekuma Eze, said the initiative reflects the company’s strong belief in education as a driver of national development.
“Children are the future of our society. It is important to support their academic journey, particularly those who lack access to basic educational resources,” he said, adding that the outreach would also be extended to pupils in Abuja in the coming days.
In Lagos, beneficiaries included pupils from Oworonshoki Nursery and Primary School, Local Government Nursery and Primary School, Mosafejo Nursery and Primary School, and Muslim Nursery and Primary School, all located within Kosofe LGA. In Ogun State, pupils of Moslem Primary School, St Thomas Catholic Primary School and St John’s Anglican Primary School in Ososa, near Ijebu-Ode, received the items.
Also addressing the pupils, the company’s Head of Human Resources, Mr Ismail Ganiyu, encouraged them to remain focused on their studies and to make good use of the materials. He reaffirmed Rite Foods’ commitment to supporting academic progress among children in marginalised communities.
Managing Director of Kazih Kits, Dr Chinedu Azih, whose firm partnered with Rite Foods to produce the eco-friendly school bags, said the project demonstrates the impact of collaboration between the private sector and community-based innovation. She noted that the initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education, Climate Action and Partnerships.
Head teacher of Moslem Primary School, Mr Idris Olakunle, and Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee in Kosofe, Mr Kehinde Dare, commended the company for the donation, describing it as timely and impactful. They appealed for continued support to help address the needs of more schools in similar communities.
