A notable alumnus and lecturer of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Professor Kunle Ajayi, has donated a Moot Parliament to the Department of Political Science. The facility was officially handed over to the university in a ceremony attended by top officials.
Professor Ajayi, currently serving as a National Commissioner (South/West) at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and university authorities for allowing his proposal to become a reality.

According to Professor Ajayi, “it is my strong desire to make functional and practical knowledge available to Political Science students. The Moot Parliament is expected to transform the teaching of the component courses of democracy and governance from solely classroom theorizing to something functionally practical.”
The Moot Parliament will serve as a learning laboratory for Political Science students and provide a venue for parliamentary debates. It will also assist the department in meeting the National Universities Commission (NUC) requirements for programme accreditation.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele, thanked Professor Ajayi on behalf of the university’s Governing Council and assured him that the facility would be put to good use. Professor Ayodele also solicited more interventions from stakeholders, encouraging them to emulate Professor Ajayi’s generosity.
The Vice Chancellor charged the faculty members to ensure proper maintenance of the facility. He led a team of principal officers, deans, professors, and directors in inspecting the building’s facilities.
Professor Ajayi’s donation is a significant boost to the Department of Political Science and a testament to his commitment to giving back to his alma mater.
The Moot Parliament is expected to enhance the learning experience of Political Science students and provide a platform for practical training in governance and democracy.
The university’s authorities have expressed their appreciation for Professor Ajayi’s generosity and commitment to the development of the institution.
The donation has been welcomed by stakeholders, who see it as a positive development for the university and its students.
