Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has hosted and honoured the state’s winning delegation to the recently concluded Presidential Schools’ Debate held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, rewarding each student with ₦1 million and each of their coaches with ₦500,000.
Receiving the champions at Government House, Ilorin, Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the students for their stellar performance, describing the victory as a source of pride and a reflection of the state’s progress in educational reforms.
“Thank you for making Kwara proud. Your achievement has brought joy to the state and renewed confidence in our ongoing efforts to transform the education sector,” the governor said. “This victory is yet another testament to the fact that our administration’s education reforms are yielding tangible results.”
The governor also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, school administrators, and teaching staff for their contributions to the students’ success.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, commended the governor’s sustained investment in the education sector, noting that it is already producing measurable results. He reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring excellence in public education across the state.
The victorious team, which brought home the national trophy, comprised Moshood Kamaldeen of Government Secondary School, Ilorin; AbdulAzeez Aishat of Nawair-ud-Deen Grammar School, Offa; AbdulAzeez Mutasir Destiny of St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin; and Usman Maryam of Ilorin Grammar School. Rivers and Enugu States finished as first and second runners-up, respectively.
Present at the reception were the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Tahueed Abubakar Bello; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake; school principals, and other top education officials.
