The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Kano State Command, has disclosed that 58 inmates from its custodial centres are currently sitting for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
The command made this known in a statement issued on Sunday by its Public Relations Officer, Musbahu Kofar-Nasarawa.
According to the statement, the inmates’ participation in the national examination was made possible through the intervention of the Kano State Government, which fully sponsored their registration fees under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“This gesture reflects the state government’s genuine commitment to the welfare, rehabilitation, and reintegration of inmates into society,” Kofar-Nasarawa said.
The command expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for his consistent support, describing the initiative as a morale booster that gives inmates renewed hope and a second chance at building a better future through education.
“The Kano Command remains steadfast in its mission to provide a conducive environment for the reformation and rehabilitation of inmates,” the statement added.
The NCoS also reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with stakeholders to strengthen correctional services and create life-changing opportunities for inmates.
