The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digital literacy across Nigeria’s education sector, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises education, healthcare, and social investment.
As part of the ongoing effort, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, led a delegation to the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Hajiya Aisha Garba, to deepen institutional collaboration aimed at integrating digital literacy into the country’s basic education curriculum.
The engagement builds on NITDA’s broader strategy to collaborate with key education stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), to ensure that digital skills are integrated at every stage of learning.
To drive this objective, a joint committee has been established to develop and implement a roadmap that will guide the effective integration of digital literacy into the basic education framework. The initiative aims to equip Nigerian learners with essential 21st-century digital competencies that will enable them to participate meaningfully in the global digital economy.
This effort forms part of the federal government’s broader agenda to create a digitally inclusive society and enhance Nigeria’s human capital base through sustained investment in technology-driven education.
