The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has praised the Kaduna State Government for its bold reforms in the education sector, calling the state’s recent efforts a model for other states to follow. Speaking at the 2025 KADA EduPACT International Summit held in Kaduna, Dr. Alausa highlighted the significance of the summit in charting a new course for inclusive, future-driven education in Nigeria. He was joined by education stakeholders, including Dr. Suwaiba_Said and hosted by the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani.
According to the Minister, the summit comes at a defining moment for the country’s education landscape. “This summit comes at a defining moment for our nation as we reimagine education to be inclusive, future-ready, and impactful,” he stated. Dr. Alausa noted that Kaduna was setting a strong example by aligning its education strategies with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the National Education Strategic Roadmap Initiative (NESRI).

Kaduna State’s decision to implement a 40 percent reduction in tuition across its state-owned tertiary institutions was among the achievements the Minister praised. He also lauded the state’s impressive $62 million investment in basic education, describing it as “evidence of visionary leadership and deliberate investment in the future.” He emphasized that these actions demonstrate what is possible when vision meets strategic action.
Outlining the goals of the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Alausa pointed to five key pillars of reform: the development of a learner-centered and digitally enabled education system; making strategic investments in education as a national economic priority; improving teacher quality and workforce development; embracing blended financing models and community co-ownership; and ensuring full alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
“Kaduna isn’t just shaping its future, it’s helping shape Nigeria’s,” Alausa remarked. He commended Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, noting that Kaduna is providing a living example of how political will can translate into transformative change for education systems. He also praised the synergy between the state government and educational partners, calling it “a model for national replication.”
The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working with states that show strong intent to reform and improve education outcomes. “On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, I reaffirm our commitment to partnering with Kaduna State and other states to drive sustainable education reform across the country,” he said. According to him, a federal-state partnership is the key to scaling successful models across Nigeria.
Governor Uba Sani, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the Federal Government’s support and emphasized that Kaduna was committed to investing in the future of its children. He stated that the summit was a platform to collaborate, learn, and scale impactful ideas that would build a resilient and responsive education system. The Governor noted that education remains central to Kaduna’s development agenda.
Dr. Alausa also used the opportunity to call on private and international development partners to deepen their collaboration with states that have demonstrated serious commitment to reform. He stressed that education financing must evolve from government-dominated funding to a shared responsibility involving communities, businesses, and donor agencies.
As the summit concluded, stakeholders resolved to strengthen data-driven planning, enhance teacher capacity, and ensure greater accountability in the deployment of education funds. The KADA EduPACT International Summit 2025 stands as a milestone in Nigeria’s education journey, with Kaduna leading the charge and the Federal Ministry of Education solidly backing the momentum toward long-term, impactful transformation.
