Lagos State University (LASU) has once again demonstrated its strength in legal education as Lawal Maryam Abiodun, an alumna of the Faculty of Law (Common and Islamic Law), emerged as the Best Graduating Female Student and Second Overall Best Graduating Student at the 2025 Call to Bar ceremony held on 8th – 10th July in Abuja.
Maryam stood out among 7,134 candidates who were called to the Bar during the ceremony, earning nationwide recognition for her academic excellence and making LASU proud on the national stage.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, described Maryam as “a true ambassador and a shining example of the excellence we instil in our students.” He encouraged other students of the Faculty to emulate her dedication and commitment to learning.
In her official congratulatory message, Professor Olatunji-Bello celebrated Maryam’s exceptional achievement, stating that it was a moment of immense pride for the entire LASU community. She also commended Professor Olatoye and the Faculty of Law for their continued commitment to academic excellence and mentorship.
“This remarkable achievement underscores the high standards of education and mentorship at LASU. It reflects our commitment to nurturing globally competitive graduates who will stand out anywhere in the world,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
