The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has officially opened the online registration portal for the 2025/2026 Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise. This screening is a prerequisite for admission into all undergraduate programmes offered by the institution. According to the announcement from the Office of the Registrar, the registration period commences on Friday, 25th July 2025 and will close on Friday, 28th August 2025. All eligible candidates are urged to complete the application process within this timeframe.
To qualify for the screening, candidates must have scored a minimum of 180 marks in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). In addition, all applicants—whether through UTME or Direct Entry—must have selected FUTA as their First Choice Institution. For O’level requirements, candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings from recognized examination bodies such as WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.
Direct Entry candidates are also eligible to apply, provided they selected FUTA as their first choice. These applicants must present A’ level results or National Diploma qualifications relevant to their chosen course of study. It is important that both UTME and DE candidates consult the university’s website for programme-specific entry requirements before initiating the application process.
Interested candidates are expected to visit the university’s official website at http://www.futa.edu.ng. On the site, they will find detailed guidelines on how to complete the Post-UTME application form online. Once the form is submitted, applicants must print a copy of the Registration Form, which will serve as evidence of participation and will be required throughout the admission process.
To complete the registration, candidates must generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) code on the portal and pay the screening fee of N2,000 (Two Thousand Naira only) at any commercial bank or via online payment. Applicants are strongly advised to input their UTME Registration Number and ensure that their full name matches exactly with the name on their JAMB registration slip. Discrepancies in information may lead to disqualification from the screening process.
The registration process is incomplete without full submission of the online application. The university warns that only candidates who complete the registration process within the stipulated period will be considered for the screening. Late applications will not be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates are urged to keep copies of their payment receipts and registration forms safe for future reference.
A vital requirement for all candidates is the upload of their O’level results to the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). This step must be completed on or before Friday, 28th August 2025. Failure to upload the necessary documents on CAPS will render the candidate ineligible for admission, even if all other conditions are met. Applicants are therefore encouraged to verify the status of their result upload on the JAMB portal.
FUTA has also emphasized that screening is compulsory for all UTME and DE candidates. Candidates who fail to participate in the screening exercise will not be considered for admission into the university under any circumstance. This underscores the importance of full compliance with the outlined procedures and deadlines.
In compliance with national education policies, the university has reminded all applicants that only those who will attain the minimum age of 16 years on or before 30th September 2025 are eligible to be considered for admission. This requirement is strictly enforced and applies to all undergraduate programmes, regardless of department or faculty.
For candidates in need of clarification or assistance during the registration process, FUTA has provided dedicated helplines for support. Prospective students can reach the university on the following telephone numbers: +2348062484770, +2347062320151, +2348034277322, +2348034655619, and +2348126049786. These lines will be open during official working hours to provide guidance and technical support.
All eligible applicants are encouraged to begin the application process without delay to avoid the common pitfalls associated with last-minute registrations. The university’s website contains comprehensive information that will guide them through each step. Candidates are also reminded to frequently check their emails and JAMB CAPS portal for updates concerning the admission process.
With FUTA maintaining its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions in science and technology education, thousands of candidates are expected to apply for the 2025/2026 academic session. The university has assured the public that the admission process will be merit-based, transparent, and in full compliance with the Federal Government’s admission guidelines.
The Office of the Registrar, under the leadership of C. O. Adeleye, has reiterated FUTA’s commitment to providing quality education in science, engineering, technology, and innovation. All aspiring applicants are advised to take the application guidelines seriously and ensure strict compliance to avoid disqualification.
