Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has unveiled a remodeled gate at its Old Campus, marking a new architectural milestone for the institution.
The commissioning ceremony, held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas.
Speaking at the event, Professor Abbas described the project as “another landmark in the proud history of our University,” noting that the original Old Campus gate had long stood as a symbolic entry point.
He said the redesigned structure now reflects the “modern spirit and academic excellence” that define BUK, and expressed optimism that his successor, Professor Haruna Musa, would sustain the drive to upgrade the University’s infrastructure.
The gate’s design was created by MSc Architecture student Mukhtar Kabiru Danjuma, whose proposal was selected from a class exercise.
“BUK is my University,” Danjuma said, adding that his vision was to create an entrance that communicates “excellence, beauty, and history” at first sight. He credited his postgraduate supervisor for providing guidance throughout the design process.
