Governor Ademola Adeleke has endorsed the groundbreaking of Curator University, a private institution in Modakeke, describing it as a vital step in Osun State’s education reform drive. The university is set to offer specialised programmes in artificial intelligence, engineering, and data analytics, supported by strategic partnerships between government and the private sector.
The state’s academic landscape has received a significant boost following the foundation laying ceremony of Curator University, which aims to provide training in future-focused disciplines.
The university will offer courses in Artificial Intelligence, including a machine learning specialisation, Computer Hardware Engineering, Data Analytics, Database Administration, Arbitration and Conflict Resolution, as well as 3D Printing and Polymer Science.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Adeleke, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Dipo Eluwole, described the project as a landmark achievement in the state’s education reform agenda.
“The establishment of a university here in Modakeke is a milestone that reflects our administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education,” he said. “I urge all stakeholders to work towards making this institution one of Nigeria’s best, not only academically but also culturally.”
Founder of Curator University, Mr. Olusola Amusan, emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in sustaining tertiary education and fostering national development.
“Our goal is to build a forward-thinking university supported by education endowment funds, government grants, and loan facilities,” Amusan said. “We recognise that delivering quality education requires significant investment, but through partnerships, we are determined to ensure access for all deserving students.”
Chairman of the Curator University Groundbreaking Planning Committee, Mr. Abimbola Amusan, expressed confidence that the institution would transform Modakeke into a centre of global academic excellence and innovation.
“We envision this project evolving into a hub for knowledge, youth empowerment, job creation, and sustained economic growth,” he said.
The Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olubiyi, who also spoke at the ceremony, commended the initiative and urged indigenes in the diaspora to emulate the university’s founder by investing in their community.
“This is a shining example of giving back,” the monarch said. “I encourage our sons and daughters abroad to take a cue from this and contribute meaningfully to the development of Modakeke.”
Curator University is expected to admit its first set of students once infrastructure is completed and relevant regulatory approvals are secured.
