The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Wannune in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State has dismissed the institution’s Deputy Rector, Dr. Doris Iorchir, over alleged insubordination.
The decision was contained in a letter dated August 18, signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Muhammed Ndas, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday.
According to the letter, the Governing Council reached the resolution at an emergency meeting held on Monday. Dr. Iorchir was directed to hand over all official property in her possession with immediate effect.
The letter explained that the Council deliberated on the report of the Management Disciplinary Committee concerning the deputy rector and found her guilty of several misconducts, including “insubordination to constituted authority, arrogance to the rector, use of foul language, refusal to appear before the Management Disciplinary Committee, unauthorised disclosure of official information, and refusal to provide some vital documents from your former employer(s) after two years of probationary period.”
Based on the committee’s recommendations and in line with the Public Service Rules, the Governing Council approved Dr. Iorchir’s dismissal with effect from August 18, 2025.
“Consequently, you are to hand over all the institution’s property, identity card inclusive, to the Chief Security Officer,” the letter stated.
