The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has continued to play a central role in ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s admission process through the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). One of the most crucial requirements for securing admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria is the proper upload of a candidate’s O’level result on the JAMB portal. Failure to complete this process can automatically disqualify even the brightest candidates from being considered for admission. Below is a clear step-by-step guide on how to check whether your O’level result has been successfully uploaded.
Step 1: Visit the JAMB e-Facility Portal
Candidates are required to visit https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/Login. This is the official JAMB portal where students carry out all admission-related activities such as checking results, admission status, and uploading of documents. It is very important to use the correct login details, your email address and password used during JAMB registration to access your personal profile.
Step 2: Click on the “Check Admission Status” Tab
After logging in, scroll down the dashboard until you locate the tab labeled ‘Check Admission Status.’ This tab is designed to guide candidates into the CAPS section of the portal where admission-related information is stored. Clicking this tab opens a new page that gives access to both admission and O’level verification options.
Step 3: Access Your Admission Status Page
On the new page, click on ‘Admission Status.’ You will be required to input your JAMB registration number in the provided space. This number is unique to each candidate and ensures that the system pulls out your exact record. Once entered, click on ‘Access my CAPS’ to proceed. This action will take you to the main CAPS interface.
Step 4: Click on “My O’level”
When you arrive at the CAPS dashboard, you will see several menu options on the left-hand side of the page. The most important one for this process is the ‘My O’level’ tab. By clicking on it, candidates can directly view the status of their O’level upload. This section was introduced by JAMB to eliminate guesswork and to allow students to confirm whether their results have been documented.
Step 5: Confirm the Display of Subjects and Grades
If your O’level result has been uploaded correctly, the system will display all your subjects along with their corresponding grades. This ensures that the exact result you presented during registration is safely stored in the JAMB database. However, if no result is displayed or if the subjects are incomplete, it means the upload has not been done or was not successful.
Step 6: Visit a JAMB-Accredited CBT Centre if Missing
In the event that your O’level result is not showing on the portal, do not panic. Candidates are advised to immediately visit the nearest JAMB-accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre. Only these centres have the authorization and facilities to upload results directly to the JAMB database. Carry along a printed copy of your O’level statement of result whether WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB for verification and proper upload.
Ensuring that your O’level result is uploaded is a critical step in the admission process. Many candidates lose their admission opportunities because their results were not uploaded on time, even after scoring high in UTME. By carefully following the steps above, students can safeguard themselves from such disappointments. The process may seem simple, but it determines whether or not one’s admission status will be considered. Candidates are therefore strongly encouraged to verify their O’level uploads as early as possible to avoid last-minute problems during the admission exercise.
