The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has officially announced the conduct of the screening examination for admission into its Government Science and Technical Colleges for the 2025/2026 academic session. The exercise will serve as a major gateway for students seeking enrolment into technical and vocational programmes designed to equip them with employable skills and knowledge for national development.
According to the announcement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi A. Arigbabu, FMAN, FSTAN, the screening examination will be conducted under the supervision of the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board. The Board has assured parents, guardians, and candidates that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent examination process.
The examination will take place on Saturday, 6th September 2025, at the premises of the respective colleges chosen by candidates during the registration process. This decentralised approach, the ministry explained, is intended to reduce stress for applicants while ensuring accessibility across the state. Candidates will therefore write the examination at the Government Science and Technical College or Government Technical and Vocational College they have indicated as their preferred choice.
The Honourable Commissioner further revealed that the screening exercise is open to candidates who have duly completed their registration via the Ogun State Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DiPER). The platform, which has become the central portal for education-related activities in the state, provides a modern, technology-driven means of streamlining admission and examination procedures.
In terms of eligibility, the ministry specified that prospective candidates must hold at least a Basic Education Certificate (BECE). Alternatively, holders of the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) or the National Examination Council Senior Secondary Certificate (NECOSSC) are also eligible to participate. This wide range of acceptable qualifications ensures inclusivity and provides multiple entry pathways for learners at different educational stages.
Successful candidates in the screening examination will be admitted into a three-year academic programme, which culminates in the award of either the National Technical Certificate (NTC) or the National Business Certificate (NBC). These certifications are nationally recognised and position graduates to either proceed to higher institutions of learning or transition into the workforce with practical skills.
The ministry emphasised that all candidates must report to their designated examination centres with the required materials. These include writing materials, their printed registration slips, and photocopies of relevant academic credentials. In addition, candidates were strongly advised to conduct themselves in an orderly manner throughout the examination period in line with examination ethics.
Speaking on the preparedness of the state government, the Honourable Commissioner assured stakeholders that the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board has made comprehensive arrangements for the exercise. Security measures, examination logistics, and proper invigilation procedures have all been put in place to ensure a hitch-free process.
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to raising the standard of technical and vocational education in Ogun State. It stressed that the government remains resolute in its mission to produce skilled, innovative, and productive graduates who can compete both nationally and globally in the evolving world of work.
In conclusion, the Commissioner extended best wishes to all candidates preparing for the examination. He expressed optimism that the 2025/2026 intake will mark another milestone in Ogun State’s drive towards revitalising education and empowering the youth through practical and technical learning opportunities.
