The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has charged 835 recently promoted staff members to remain steadfast in projecting a positive image for the organization. The charge was delivered as he presented promotion letters to 10 new Directors at the NYSC headquarters.
The promotions are the result of the Scheme’s 2025 staff promotion exercise, which saw a total of 1,150 senior and junior staff sit for examinations.
While addressing the newly appointed Directors, General Nafiu emphasized the increased responsibilities that accompany their new roles. “To whom much is given, much is expected,” he remarked, urging them to exceed previous efforts in the discharge of their duties. He expressed confidence that they would meet the demands of their new ranks and called on them to serve as exemplary role models for their subordinates.
The 10 new Directors are Florence Yaakugh, Caroline Embu, Stephen Dewan, Rachel Idaewor, Agatha Banki Okolo, Chinyere Ekwe, Anthony Nzoka, Olusegun Alao, Levi Agim, and Nura Umar.
In addition to the new directors, the promotion exercise elevated 39 officers to Deputy Directors (Grade Level 16) and 54 to Assistant Directors (Grade Level 15). A further 593 individuals were promoted across various senior staff grade levels.
A significant advancement was also recorded in the junior staff category, where 139 members were promoted from Grade Level 06 to 07, officially transitioning them into the senior staff cadre.
Overall, the 835 promotions represent a 72.6% success rate for the candidates who participated in the 2025 promotion exercise.
