The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), has officially extended the deadline for the ongoing Post-UTME application into the 2025/2026 academic session. The announcement comes as part of efforts by the institution to give more prospective candidates a chance to complete their registration.
Initially set to close earlier, the application portal will now remain active until Wednesday, September 3, 2025. This new development means interested applicants who may have faced difficulties completing their applications now have a brief extension to do so.
In a statement released by the university’s management, the decision to extend the deadline was informed by the need to accommodate the high number of students still trying to complete their applications. The management stressed that the institution is committed to fairness and inclusivity in its admission process.
The university urged candidates who are yet to apply to take advantage of the extension, noting that this is a crucial opportunity for them to carefully prepare the necessary documents, satisfy eligibility requirements, and complete their online application forms without further delay.
Applicants are advised to ensure strict compliance with the admission requirements as outlined on the official university portal. The institution also emphasized that only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria would be considered for admission into its competitive medical and health-related programmes.
According to the management, details on the application procedure, payment guidelines, and available programmes have been published on the official website. Candidates were further encouraged to avoid reliance on third-party agents and instead use the university’s approved communication channels for accurate information.
The university further cautioned that no late entries would be entertained after the new deadline. It appealed to applicants to avoid the common problem of last-minute rush, which could lead to errors or incomplete submissions that may disqualify them from consideration.
Stakeholders in the education sector have welcomed the extension, describing it as a thoughtful move that could reduce pressure on applicants and ensure that qualified candidates do not miss out on the opportunity to study at the institution. Many, however, urged prospective students to act swiftly before the new deadline expires.
The extension comes at a time when competition for admission into specialized institutions like FUMMSA is increasing nationwide. With its focus on medical and allied health sciences, the university remains one of the most sought-after destinations for students aspiring to build careers in medicine and related fields.
As the September 3 deadline approaches, the management reiterated its commitment to transparency in the admission process, assuring applicants that merit will remain the guiding principle for selection. Candidates are therefore advised to seize the opportunity and finalize their applications in good time.
