The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has officially released the admission cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 academic session. This announcement is directed to all prospective candidates who applied for admission into various programmes of the University. The release marks the beginning of a crucial stage in the admission process as applicants eagerly anticipate the release of their admission status through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
The University’s Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun, made the announcement on Monday, September 8, 2025, reiterating the institution’s commitment to transparency in its admission process. She further stressed that candidates must avoid patronizing unauthorized individuals or groups posing as admission agents. According to her, “admission into LAUTECH is absolutely free, and the University will not be held responsible for anyone who falls victim to fraudsters.”
The cut-off marks reflect the minimum academic benchmark required for entry into each course of study at the University. These marks vary from programme to programme depending on competition, demand, and performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). For instance, highly competitive courses such as Medicine and Surgery have a merit cut-off as high as 79.8, while other programmes such as Agricultural Extension and Rural Development stand at a cut-off of 40.3.
For the Faculty of Management Sciences, Accounting set its merit cut-off at 56.2, with the catchment cut-off at 46.0. Business Management pegged its merit score at 57.7 and catchment at 48.7. Marketing followed closely with a merit cut-off of 54.5, while Mass Communication stood higher at 62.7 for merit and 51.6 for catchment. This reflects the intense demand for business-related and communication courses at the University.
In the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Economics requires a merit score of 39.1, while Agricultural Engineering stands at 51.5. Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology requires 41.8, whereas Animal Production and Health is pegged at 48.8. Crop Production and Soil Science recorded a merit cut-off of 40.3. Interestingly, Fisheries and Aquaculture placed its merit score at 39.7, one of the lowest among the programmes.
Science-based programmes continue to show high standards. Biochemistry demands 56.3 for merit, Computer Science sets 63.5, and Cyber Security Science stands at 60.7. Pure and Applied Biology requires 58.1, while Pure and Applied Chemistry is pegged at 48.8. Meanwhile, Science Laboratory Technology places its merit cut-off at 56.9, indicating strong interest in laboratory sciences.
Engineering programmes also retained their high competitiveness. Civil Engineering has a merit cut-off of 63.7, Mechanical Engineering requires 60.8, while Electrical and Electronics Engineering sets 57.3. Chemical Engineering stands at 55.7, and Computer Engineering follows at 59.5. These figures highlight LAUTECH’s consistent reputation as a technology-driven institution with strong engineering faculties.
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences also has interesting benchmarks. Architecture places its merit cut-off at 61.6, Building at 55.9, and Estate Management at 52.5. Urban and Regional Planning requires 52.5, while Surveying and Geoinformatics sets 55.7. Fine and Applied Arts, however, recorded a lower merit cut-off of 39.7, demonstrating varying levels of competition across programmes.
The medical and health sciences remain among the most competitive. Nursing has a merit cut-off of 72.1, while Medical Laboratory Science requires 68.0. Nutrition and Dietetics stands at 59.1, and Physiology is pegged at 50.1. The highest cut-off across the University remains Medicine and Surgery, with a merit requirement of 79.8, reflecting the national trend of competitiveness in medical programmes.
Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences also recorded significant figures. English and Literary Studies requires 44.8, History stands at 42.3, Philosophy places its cut-off at 49.2, and Political Science requires 56.7. Sociology set its cut-off at 55.7, while Psychology requires 58.1. Theatre Arts, newly gaining popularity, has a merit cut-off of 48.9, reflecting rising interest among prospective students.
The Registrar concluded by urging all candidates to remain patient and vigilant as the admission process progresses. She reminded applicants that admission status would be available only on the official JAMB CAPS platform and the University’s official admission portal. This, she stressed, was to avoid misinformation and fraud by unscrupulous individuals.
