The Oyo State Government has inaugurated a Staff Audit and Verification Committee for The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS), in a move aimed at promoting transparency, improving workforce planning, and repositioning the institution for better service delivery.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, performed the inauguration at a brief ceremony held at the Scholarship Board Room, Ministry of Education, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Olayiwola described the audit as critical to the long-term viability and competitiveness of the polytechnic, noting that the verification exercise would help establish a reliable staff database to aid government planning, budgeting, and infrastructure development.
“This exercise is vital to building an accurate database of the institution’s workforce,” he said. “It will help government plan better, allocate resources appropriately, and ultimately position TOPS to compete effectively with its peers.”
He said the committee members were carefully selected based on their integrity, expertise, and commitment to public service, expressing confidence that their professionalism would add value to the process.
“I urge you to be thorough and diligent in this task,” he added. “Your findings and recommendations will shape the future of this institution. The Ministry will provide all necessary support to ensure your success.”
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Bamidele Oyinloye, commended the committee members for their readiness to contribute to the advancement of education at the institution.
Chairman of the Governing Council of TOPS, Dr. Bisi Ojebola, described the committee’s inauguration as a call to service, stressing the need for credible data in driving institutional reforms.
“We cannot overstate the importance of credible statistics in delivering the best results,” he said, urging the committee to work collaboratively with union leaders in the institution to achieve a balanced and impactful outcome.
The 15-member committee comprises representatives from various arms of the institution and affiliated unions. Prof. Bioye Aluko was appointed Chairman, while Mr. Waheed Raheef will serve as Secretary.
